CLS-Tex, HTEX and Defense at National Inventors Day

The National Inventors Day on November 23 at 'Soestdijk' Palace is the place to be inspired by the latest technologies, groundbreaking innovations and special inventions from the Netherlands. CLS-Tex and HTEX have been invited by the Ministry of Defense to present their innovative findings here.

CLS-Tex and HTEX work closely together for closed loop solutions in the textile industry. Together they have developed a recycling technique whereby raw materials for yarns are produced from old and used clothing. Textile cloth is woven from these yarns for the production of new clothing.

Together with the Ministry of Defense, CLS-Tex and HTEX show how used clothing from the armed forces was recycled into new clothing according to this process and returned to the Ministry of Defense. This process is a shining example of reuse in a completely closed loop with a very positive impact on CO2 reduction and other environmental aspects.

In 2012 Jukka Pesola (Pure Waste) and Rien Otto (CLS-Tex) met as winners of the ‘2012 Challenge Solution Textile’, set by the global innovation platform ‘LAUNCH Nordic’. From then on the two pioneers started working together. Recently they agreed on taking the next step and start closing the loop by presenting the extended label Pure Waste CLS Inside. Pure Waste products are initially already made from recycled textile. However, after their use they will be given yet another life: using the innovative HTEX technology, used clothing is being recycled into raw material for new yarns, fabrics and new garments. The return and recycle services as well as the recycling process are made possible by CLS-Tex’ innovative solutions. This way the loop will be entirely closed: waste will be raw material!
