CLS-Tex and Pure waste join forces

Pure Waste and CLS-Tex International have teamed up closing the loop for textile,
sharing their innovations in partnership

In 2012 Jukka Pesola (Pure Waste) and Rien Otto (CLS-Tex) met as winners of the ‘2012 Challenge Solution Textile’, set by the global innovation
platform ‘LAUNCH Nordic’. From then on the two pioneers started working together.

Recently they agreed on taking the next step and start
closing the loop by presenting the extended label Pure Waste CLS Inside. Pure Waste products are initially already made from recycled textile.
However, after their use they will be given yet another life: using the innovative HTEX technology, used clothing is being recycled into raw material for
new yarns, fabrics and new garments. The return and recycle services as well as the recycling process are made possible by CLS-Tex’ innovative
solutions. This way the loop will be entirely closed: waste will be raw material!

This weekend, during the tech festival Bright Day, the Ministry of Defense will show the extend of futurism within the armed forces. Not only with regard to their training methods, but certainly also with a view to the CO2 reduction they achieved in collaboration with CLS-Tex.

CLS-Tex International, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, shows how used clothing from the armed forces is recycled into new raw materials and new products that CLS-Tex returns to the Ministry of Defense.

For example, Defense's has clothing is recycled into yarn to manufacture new polo shirts. But used clothing in combination with old plastic has also been recycled into Cliff granulates. Among other things, road plates, fences and picnic tables have been produced that are now used within Defense itself.

The Ministry of Defense thus demonstrates that waste is not waste, but a raw material for new products for the armed forces. Defense creates savings on CO2 emissions with a positive impact on the environment. It has been calculated that all Defense clothing that is recycled into new raw materials and products yields a CO2 saving that is equal to the annual CO2 emissions of an important city in the Netherlands.

'DefLab', a glimpse into the future of the armed forces

These good developments for the future have already started today and will become visible on November 23 and 24 during the Bright Day tech festival, Expo Haarlemmermeer. Defense shows much more there. For example, innovations within the armed forces are visualized on the 'Deflab Square'. This concerns gadgets in the field of future mobility, future warfare, robots and superhumans and future sustainability.

Visitors can get acquainted in an interactive way with, for example, the cargo drone, E-bikes, recycled clothing, serious gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality training resources.

The National Inventors Day on November 23 at 'Soestdijk' Palace is the place to be inspired by the latest technologies, groundbreaking innovations and special inventions from the Netherlands. CLS-Tex and HTEX have been invited by the Ministry of Defense to present their innovative findings here.

CLS-Tex and HTEX work closely together for closed loop solutions in the textile industry. Together they have developed a recycling technique whereby raw materials for yarns are produced from old and used clothing. Textile cloth is woven from these yarns for the production of new clothing.

Together with the Ministry of Defense, CLS-Tex and HTEX show how used clothing from the armed forces was recycled into new clothing according to this process and returned to the Ministry of Defense. This process is a shining example of reuse in a completely closed loop with a very positive impact on CO2 reduction and other environmental aspects.

Cliff products delivered to the Ministry of Defense

CLS-Tex recently delivered the first Cliff picnic table at the Ministries of Defense and Economic Affairs.

CLS-Tex recently delivered the first Cliff picnic table at the Ministries of Defense and Economic Affairs.

Cliff is a strong and robust material that is made from plastic waste in combination with used workwear; in this case, clothing from Defense. The picnic table is a good example of a Cliff product that CLS-Tex delivers back to the client from whom the clothing was collected.

Following the unveiling of the Cliff picnic table, various orders were placed for barracks. The next step in the process is the production of road plates for Defense, which are produced in such a way that they can be transported rolled up.

On September the 1st, the construction of the HTEX machine in Tiel started up. Turning a dream into reality

On September the 1st, the construction of the HTEX machine in Tiel started up. In collaboration with CLS-Tex, HTEX has developed an advanced technology that converts polyester workwear (and in the future several blends of textile waste) into chemicals, the raw material for new polyester.

This technology converts negative textile waste streams into high-quality raw materials. The HTEX team and CLS-Tex international jointly form a 'chain manager service company' that closes the circle for textile reuse for their chain partners.

CLS-Tex takes care of the logistics of used textiles and supplies the new raw materials to its partners, from which produce yarn, textile and clothing is produced. This way we close the circular chain for a 100%.
